Open day for foster parents across Worcestershire

Worcester Editorial 24th May, 2024 Updated: 24th May, 2024   0

WORCESTERSHIRE Children First Fostering are hosting an open morning for anyone wanting to join the county’s foster carers.

The event gives people the opportunity to speak to current foster carers with first hand experience.

People will be able to ask questions, and understand what the next steps are in their own fostering journey.

Foster Care Fortnight, which started last Monday, is this year all about marking the Fostering Moments – celebrating the moments that define fostering journeys, big and small including those at the very start of the journey.

Councillor Steve Mackay, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Worcestershire County Council said, “Becoming a foster carer is one of the biggest and most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make.

“The focus Foster Care Fortnight gives, provides an opportunity to recruit new superheroes to help shape lives and also for us to say thank you and show our appreciation for our current foster care families.

“They really do make an invaluable difference to the lives of children and young people across our county.

“We are always looking for new members to join our fostering family and I would encourage anyone considering fostering to come along to our open morning to find out more about what it’s like to be a foster carer. I’ll see you there.”

The open morning runs from 9am until 1pm tomorrow (Saturday May 25) at County Hall.
