AN OLYMPIC medallist has made an inspirational visit to a city secondary school.

Silver and bronze winner and BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing champion, Louis Smith went to RGS Worcester’s Holiday Club to see their budding gymnasts.

The children practised their vaulting and performed the floor routines which specially created for the sporting stars appearance.

The group offer the Louis Smith Academy course which is part of the Active Sports scheme and aims to inspire the next generation of athletes and ensure all ages and abilities have fun and learn from qualified coaches. This was set up with the intention of strengthening the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics.

Louis said: “I want to give children opportunities and the possibility that gymnastics can change their lives, like it did mine. It is really important that the 2012 legacy reaches the grass roots.”
