A INDEPENDENT Worcester school has welcomed a new headteacher at the start of the new school year.
The River School has welcomed Adrian Parsonage as its new head after outgoing headteacher Carol Parry took up a new role at the school at the end of last term.
The former headteacher is now at the helm of developing the Forest School in the eight acres of Victorian arboretum on the site.
Adrian, who has moved to the River School from his role as headteacher of Holy Trinity CE Primary School in Taunton, has a wealth of expertise with more than 30 years’ experience leading and improving schools.
He has experience in raising standards, leadership, staff training, developing vision, meeting statutory requirements, financial planning and leading on safeguarding.
His previous roles have also included headteacher at Clehonger CE Primary School in Hereford and deputy headteacher at Orleton CE Primary School in Herefordshire.
“I am thrilled to have been appointed as headteacher and am looking forward to working collaboratively with parents, students and staff to develop educational excellence.
“My absolute priority is to deliver a curriculum that inspires and engages students, promotes ethical character and critical thinking to help them succeed in a changing world.”
The River School, a Christian, co-educational independent day school for pupils and young people aged two to 16 years, also includes The River School Early Years Department.
It was founded by Timothy Crow, who opened the Droitwich Road school in 1985.
Mr Crow, Principal of The River School, said: “Adrian has an excellent record in leadership and we are certain that under his governance the school will grow from strength to strength.
“Adrian has exciting ideas to make the school a stimulating and innovative place of learning for our young people.
“We would like to welcome him to our nurturing environment,” he added.
