ONE OF Europe’s biggest basketball clubs has signed a partnership agreement with the University of Worcester.
Spanish giants Valencia Basket, who won the 2014 Eurocup, have collaborated with Worcester in the aim of promoting the exchange of expertise and knowledge between staff in all appropriate and agreed basketball related activities.
The programme of co-operation was signed on Saturday (December 12) by the Vice President and Chief Executive of Valencia Basket, Ángel Francisco Martínez Raga, and the Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Worcester, Professor David Green.
The partnership will also benefit the Worcester Wolves and the first project to be launched will be the Valencia Basket and Worcester Basketball Camp in August 2016, which will be hosted at the University of Worcester with coaching from both clubs.
Mick Donovan, managing director of the Wolves said: “We’ve been working very hard with our friends from Valencia to form this unique and innovative partnership.
“There are many opportunities to create exciting projects which will develop both the sport and a wide range of people from both cities.
“To be working with one of the most significant basketball clubs in Europe is a great honour, and sends out a clear message relating to our ambition to continue to develop an outstanding basketball programme at the University of Worcester.”
