MP welcomes Great British Energy funding for solar power for schools in Worcester

WORCESTER MP Tom Collins has welcomed the news that Great British Energy will be funding solar panels for three primary schools in the city.

The Government has announced details of the 250 schools set to benefit from Great British Energy’s expanded scheme, with Carnforth, Hollymount and Honeywell Primary Schools in line for clean power funding to cut energy bills.

The programme – which is the first major project for the Government’s publicly owned energy company – will mean less money wasted on energy bills and more resources going back into frontline services.

It’s estimated that the scheme could save schools thousands on their energy bills over their lifetime, showing the difference that clean power can make towards energy security for local communities.

Mr Collins said: “This is a great investment by Great British Energy in three of our local primary schools.

“For Honeywell, Carnforth and Hollymount, this will mean less money spent on energy bills and more resources available to support our children.

“This is what Great British Energy was set up by Labour to do -improve energy security, invest in our public services, reduce bills and protect our environment for the future.”
