A GROUP of budding entrepreneurs from a Worcester school have won the Young Enterprise Company Programme Award.

The team of ‘White Monkey’ from King’s School won the award for setting up the best company in the competition and delivering an impressive presentation for their unique blend of tea.

The youngsters had to set up trade stands at County Hall to showcase their product to a panel of judges and then has to hold a presentation to an audience of around 150 people.

The event was sponsored by the Worcestershire County Council’s ‘Connecting Schools and Business’ programme.

Clare Marchant, county council chief executive, said: “There are so many great ideas coming from the next generation. All the schools did brilliantly and the standard at the finals was higher than ever.

“There has to be a winner though and White Monkey impressed the judges with their complete package, including around £2,000 of sales.”

Matt Tope, business account manager for Young Enterprise, said: “The programme has gone from strength to strength.

“Each year we witness a new crop of great company ideas and potential new business leaders in the making.”

White Monkey will now go on to represent Herefordshire and Worcestershire at the regional finals in June.
