Mobile NHS healthcare teams rolling into Worcester this summer

Worcester Editorial 28th May, 2024   0

WORCESTERSHIRE residents with health concerns are encouraged to visit mobile NHS healthcare teams popping up around the county over the summer.

Your Health vans will be visiting Worcester to offer a variety of free health checks including blood pressure, cholesterol and heart disease testing as well as advice on GP registrations and dispensing health prevention tips.

The service will be on hand at Worcester Farmer’s Market from 8.30am to 3pm on June 5, July 3, August 7, September 4 and October 2.

Following a successful pilot last year, the vans travel around the county providing preventative health care and screening programmes which are jointly funded by the NHS and Worcestershire County Council.

Simon Trickett, CEO at NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire said: “Your Health is a joint initiative between Integrated Care System partners, taking access to healthcare into our communities.

“We fully accept that traditional means have their limitations, so we’re trying to outreach with health checks, signposting and other support in local areas.

“These vans are fully mobile, so they’re able to head into the hardest to reach parts of Worcestershire, and they’ve been built around the lessons we’ve learned through the Covid programme on how to deliver healthcare in our communities.

“If you see the vans out and about, come and say hello and take advantage of the services on offer to you.”

The team is particularly keen to see people who are not currently registered with a GP.
