Man left with facial injuries following unprovoked attack

Worcester Editorial 3rd Nov, 2016   0

A MAN has been left with facial injuries after he was robbed in an alleyway in what police have described as an unprovoked attack.

The victim was assaulted by two men in the alleyway between Shrub Hill Station and Tolladine Road at about 7.45am on Tuesday (November 1).

They tried to steal his phone before hitting the victim with a sports bag and then punched and kicked him on the ground, but he managed to get up and run towards the station.

As well as suffering facial injuries, the victim lost his black-framed glasses and iPhone during the attack.

The offenders are described as being slim and about 5ft 10ins tall. One is believed to be aged 18 to 20-years-old and was wearing a black jacket with dark trousers and trainers and carrying a white JD sports bag with black cords.

The other has short blonde or brown hair and was wearing a black zipped up hoodie with baggy tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

Investigating officer DC Alistair Mulcaster said: “This appears to be a random attack on a man who was simply going to catch a train, and has been subjected to an unprovoked attack which has left him with facial injuries and without his glasses and phone.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed it, or has any information about the offenders, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident 109S of November 1.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
