A MOTORIST has been charged with causing the death of a pedestrian who was knocked down in Warndon.

Helda Joao Dasilva-Pina, of Brook Street, will appear at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, November 24 after being charged with death by dangerous driving.

Christopher Willmott, from Worcester, was pronounced dead at the scene last Friday (August 1) after a Peugeot 206 knocked him down on Cotswold Way about 1.15am.

Dasilva-Pina is believed to have been driving the vehicle, which hit the 48-year-old before crossing into Blackpole Road and knocking over a lamppost outside the Brooklyn Ford Dealership.

The 34-year-old attended Worcester Magistrates on Monday (August 4) where he was released on bail, but he is now due to appear at the Crown Court.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact police on the non emergency number 101.
