MALVERN’S MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her support for a rural community looking to review speed limits through their village.
The West Worcestershire MP met with parish council representatives from Suckley to talk about extending a speed limit area.
The parish council secured the support of villagers through a petition. Villagers shared the document with Mrs Baldwin when she visited along with Worcestershire County Councillor Karen Hanks.
Mrs Baldwin has written to the county council asking highways officers to meet with the parish council and re-consider the areas.
She said:
“Speeding in rural areas is one of the bigger issues in my postbag. I am clear the villagers in Suckley are frustrated with the way their concerns have not been properly addressed.”
“I have taken the time to hear their concerns and listen to the views of the county councillor who is responsible for advocating the views of the villagers.
“I am hopeful the highways team will take the time to meet with Suckley Parish Council and re-visit this matter.”
Mrs Baldwin has led the way on a number of speed reduction schemes across her constituency in recent years.
The MP supported a campaign to reduce the speed limit on the A46 at Hinton Cross where there have been a number of fatal accidents in recent years.
