Lottery delight for animal lover

Worcester Editorial 15th Feb, 2020   0

A COUNTY animal lover has scooped a £250 prize in the Worcester Community Lottery, set up in 2019 to raise funds for local charities and good causes.

Players have a one-in-50 chance of winning a prize, up to a maximum of £25,000. Since the lottery was launched in April 2019 it has raised over £23,000 for local good causes.

Pershore resident Richard Booker signed up for the lottery right from its launch, nominating the RSPCA’s Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch to benefit from his support.

“I believe that charity starts at home. What I like about the Worcester Community Lottery at worcesterlottery.org is that all the money raised goes to support good causes on our doorstep.

“I am a long-term supporter of the RSPCA. Since its Rescue and Rehoming Centre opened at The Holdings in Kempsey just over three years ago, it has found new homes for over 1,000 animals in need.

“The centre is dependent on donations to continue doing this fantastic work – the Community Lottery is a great way to support local animals in need of our help.”

RSPCA Worcester rehomes cats, dogs and small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, which are housed at the Holdings, a purpose-built centre in Kempsey, until a suitable person comes forward to adopt them.
