Local firms join project

Worcester Editorial 24th Oct, 2019   0

THE £4.5MILLION transformation of Worcester’s Victorian railway arches into a modern, 21st century workplace for creative industries has been boosted by two local firms.

KKE Architects and structural engineering firm Shire have been handed the contracts to carry out work on The Arches.

The ground-breaking new scheme will see the construction of dynamic work and creative spaces underneath eight of the Arches.

A new gateway for the city will also be created, following the line of the Arches from Foregate Street railway station down to The Hive and the River Severn.

“This ambitious £4.5million scheme will provide a major boost to the city’s arts and culture offer, creating new space for small creative businesses and also funding a programme of exciting new festivals for Worcester,” said Coun Adrian Gregson, chair of Worcester’s Cultural Development Fund Steering Group.
