MEMBERS of Worcester Lions Club will be meeting up at Waitrose on London Road this evening (Tuesday) to pack shoe boxes for this year’s Operation Christmas Child appeal.
Boxes being packed are for children, both boys and girls, and contain numerous items which include a Christmas card, a bag of toiletries, pencils and pencil case, drawing book and paper, knitted hat and gloves, a toy and cuddly toy, sweets, skipping rope for a girl or a ball for a boy.
It’s not known where the boxes will eventually end up at this time. But what is certain is that it will be with a child some where in the world that will not be receiving another Christmas presents this year and in some cases, will be the only Christmas present the child will ever receive during their lifetime.
Packing will take place in the Community Room of the store from 7.30pm.
Shoppers are being invited to say hello to members and find out more about the work of Worcester Lions Club.
Lions care about every penny they collect and ensure every penny counts and every penny collected going to good causes – not one penny being spent on administration.
Worcester Lions Club are always in need of new member to enable them to carry on organising events such as this, and also providing direct support to individuals, groups and good causes in our community.
