CARING members of Worcester Lions Club were under starters orders for a race night to support city students in their fund-raising to go to the Caribbean.
The Lions oversaw the races and manned the tote for the event organised by staff at Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester.
Just under £500 was raised on the night which will go towards funding a tour for 21 12-year-olds to travel to Barbados in February 2018.
During their time there the students will be taking part in both netball and cricket tournaments.
Teacher James Cosh paid tribute to Lions members for their support in making the event a success.
“It was a huge success and has really helped us move forward in reaching our fund-raising total,” he said.
“The pupils have been working very hard to raise the money needed and are very appreciative of the support from such a fantastic organisation.”
Worcester Lions Club is always in need of new members to enable it to carry on organising events and provide support to individuals, groups and good causes in the community.
