A MUCH-LOVED Friar Street business has made a sparkling donation of £30,000 to the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven to enable it to investment in some new pioneering technology.

Anja Potze, owner of Anja Potze Fine Jewellery has throughout the year raised the five figure sum in support of the unit which has enabled the charity to purchase a portable ultrasound machine.

This new machine will be used by the Worcestershire Breast Unit’s team to help treat breast cancer in men and women across Worcestershire.

The compact, portable ultrasound machine is state of the art. It will allow the Worcestershire Breast Unit consultants greater ability to reach more patients across the county by offering increased flexibility as to where and how breast disease can be detected.

Mrs Potze said: “As a Worcester city centre business with customers from across the whole county, I meet a lot of people who have been affected in some way by breast cancer and who have been patients at the Unit.

“The Worcestershire Breast Unit is a vital part of the health of our community and we must all support its services. I understand from Mr Thrush and his team this new piece of technology will assist in that.”

Consultant breast surgeon Steven Thrush said: “The support and commitment from Anja Potze since the Breast Unit opened nearly four years ago has been phenomenal. She is truly a wonderful ambassador for this charity and for the Breast Unit.

“Anja’s dedication to fundraising such a significant amount has enabled us to buy this cutting edge piece of technology which keeps the Worcestershire Breast Unit at the forefront of breast cancer treatment across the United Kingdom.”
