‘Incredible’ total to mark 25th birthday

Worcester Editorial 23rd Dec, 2019   0

EMPLOYEES from Worcester-based Sanctuary Group have helped to raise £25,000 for city charity Onside Independent Advocacy.

An array of activities have been organised throughout 2019 by staff from the social housing and care provider which selected Onside as its Worcester Charity of the Year.

Onside helps protect people who are disadvantaged due to disability, mental health, dementia, learning difficulties, old age or other health issues from neglect, abuse or exploitation by providing them with a voice.

Fund-raising events over the past 12 months have included football and cricket matches, bake-offs, raffles and performances from the Sanctuary choir.

To mark Onside’s 25th anniversary, Sanctuary has also made a corporate donation through its community investment programme to take the total raised for the charity to £25,000.

Sanctuary chief executive Craig Moule said: “It’s been a privilege to work with Onside over the past year. Staff have showed a real passion for the charity through the organisation of a range of events, often outside of work.

“I think it’s only fitting that in Onside’s 25th year we have raised such an incredible total that will go a long way to helping the charity continue its valuable work in the community supporting the people of Worcester.”

Kate Harvey, Onside’s chief executive, said: “I am hugely grateful to the efforts and generosity of everyone at Sanctuary. This money will make a significant difference to provide support to some of the most vulnerable people in the city.”
