SANTAS will be spotted jogging along the riverside in Worcester this December as a hospice brings its fourth festive fun-run to the city.

The St Richard’s Hospice Santa Dash is set to take place next Sunday (December 11) with a choice of a two-mile route or, for over 14s, a four-and-a-half-mile course.

Both routes begin at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, with a warm-up from dance instructor Ellie Hawkins and Christmas tunes from DJ Talia.

The two-mile course extends to the Diglis Bridge before heading back to South Quay. The longer trail takes runners across the fields of Bennetts Farms, and up to their farm café, Bennetts Willow Barn, in Lower Wick before heading back to finish at South Quay.

Everyone will get a festive treat and medal at the finish line.

The hospice asks anyone who already has a Santa suit to reuse the costume at this event. Those reusing a Santa suit can book tickets at a reduced price. Anyone who doesn’t already have a Santa suit will be given one on the day of the event.

The ticket price for children includes a Santa hat only. The Santa Dash is sponsored by Bennetts Willow Barn and Bennetts Farms.

Sofia Gunster, fund-raiser at St Richard’s, said: “This is always such a fun, family-friendly event and is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit.

“And, thanks to the support of Bennetts Willow Barn and Bennetts Farms, we’re pleased to offer a longer route this year.

“We ask everyone taking part to raise money towards our care, helping us continue to be there for patients and their loved ones across Worcestershire. We ho ho hope to see you there!”

Tickets for the two-mile route are £15 for adults, or £13 without a Santa suit, and £4 for under 14s. The four-and-a-half-mile route is £15 for over 14s, or £13 without the Santa suit.

The 2021 Santa Dash saw 300 people take part, helping to raise more than £12,500, after costs, for the hospice.
