Hundreds of runners show their colours

MORE than 640 racers were showered in an explosion of coloured powder at popular Rainbow Run.

Crowds went colour crazy as they ran or walked the 5km course around Top Barn Activity Centre on Sunday (September 6).

The successful event was a collaboration between St Richard’s Hospice, Primrose Hospice and KEMP Hospice, who hope to have raised more than £20,000 to help offer compassionate care and support to patients with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Tesco St Peter’s, Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing and Keystones Cocktail Club supported the Rainbow Run, manning the paint stations around the route alongside the St John’s Clangers.

Entertainment on the day was provided by Youthcomm Radio and Irene Surridge – who ran the warm up session – while the entertainment trailer was supplied by M Pinches and Sons and marshalling by RAYNET.

Sam Turner, sales director at Fire Label said: “Running the Rainbow Run for St Richard’s Hospice was a fantastic event we all took part in.

“The hospice does amazing work in the local area and I know it’s a cause the entire team was keen to be involved with.

“Not only were we raising money for a fantastic charity but we also had a great time.”

Jodi Brandwood, community fund-raiser at St Richard’s Hospice said: “It was a brilliant and memorable day. The sun shone and everyone had a great time.

“This is the first time the three hospices have come together to organise an event and has proved what a success a joint effort can be.

“We are very grateful to all those who took part, our volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly and our sponsor and business supporters.”
