HUNDREDS of people gathered at the Guildhall in Worcester for the launch of the county’s Poppy Appeal.
Civic dignitaries including the Mayor of Worcester Coun Steve Mackay were on hand alongside former soldiers, cadets and bikes to urge local people to dig deep and support the Royal British Legion (RBL).
A minutes silence was held as poppies were thrown out of the windows at the Guildhall into the courtyard as the poignant ceremony drew to a close.
An army of volunteers will now be out and about selling poppies with all of the donations going towards support for ex-soldiers, dementia care homes, recovery centres and more.
This year’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations will be held on Sunday, November 12 at Worcester Cathedral.
