A hundred jobs at risk at city engineering firm

MORE than 100 jobs at a Worcester engineering firm are at risk after company bosses announced it would be going into administration.

Froude Hofmann, which has its headquarters based on the Blackpole Trading Estate, has already laid off the majority of its staff and papers have been filed with administrators to begin the process of winding down the business, unless a buyer can be found.

Recently the company has found itself in financial difficulty as a result of a weak order intake and a period of significant losses.

The firm designs, manufactures and supplies a range of engine testing systems to international car manufacturers, including Lexus and Bentley.

A spokesman for Froude Hofmann said: “The Company has experienced a period of significant losses coupled with a weak order intake. As a result, a notice of intention to appoint administrators has been filed.

“In the meantime we are working with Andy Turpin and Matt Hardy of proposed administrators Poppleton & Appleby to assess the options in the coming days.

“The majority of staff have been laid off while we decide on the most appropriate course of action, which could include amongst other options, the continuation of ongoing operations and a possible sale of the underlying business and assets.”
