Housing group steps in with Worcester foodbank donation

STAFF at Platform Housing Group launched its annual Christmas Kindness campaign with a £1,000 cheque to Worcester Foodbank to buy essential supplies in time for Christmas.

Introduced in December 2020, Platform’s Christmas Kindness campaign is in its third year.

This year, to ensure funding reaches their most vulnerable customers, Platform has used data to identify key areas of deprivation and where they have a large number of customers living in their homes, to ensure that money is given to local charities and organisations who offer vital support to customers living in these communities.

“It has never been more important to provide Christmas Kindness in our local communities as our customers, like most people, are struggling to manage their household budget due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis,” said Platform’s Chief Operations Officer Marion Duffy.

“We have increased this year’s kindness fund to more than £30,000 to make sure we can support essential local charities, like the Worcester Foodbank, who do amazing work in our local communities and support our customers.”

Laura Flecknell, duty manager at Worcester Foodbank said: “We are seeing unprecedented demand for our services here at the foodbank and without the donations from organisations like Platform Housing we wouldn’t be able to support everyone who needs us.”
