A WORCESTERSHIRE hospice is calling on green-fingered gardeners to join a campaign to help grow the future of hospice care.
St Richard’s Hospice, based in Wildwood Drive is looking for plant lovers who wish to see their seeds, cuttings and bulbs spring into life to raise funds towards the care of patients and their loved ones in the county.
The charity is asking growers to bring on three and five litre pots of plants which they then deliver and donate to designated St Richard’s shops when they reopen. People taking part in the campaign are asked to supply the pots, plants and compost.
St Richard’s Shops Director Dan Corns said: “At a time when our shops and warehouse are temporarily closed for the third time of lockdown and many fundraising events postponed, this is a great way to support our care.”
“Last year thanks to volunteer growers, we raised more than £20,000 from selling plants through our shops – a fantastic amount to help fund our care. We hope, that with lots of people getting involved, we will be able to raise a significant amount with the ‘growing our future’ campaign.
Mr Corns said by donors gift aiding the plants when they deliver them to participating shops, the charity can benefit from even more funds.
