BUDDING bakers are being invited to create a show-stopping cake as part of The Hive’s fifth anniversary celebrations.
The ‘Hive at Five’ baking challenge will take place at the library on Saturday, July 8, where both junior and senior bakers will have two hours to produce a cake for a chance to win a £25 voucher and golden wooden spoon.
The community event will also offer food and drink stalls, entertainment, craft activities, story time for kids and a Hive at Five exhibition.
Other Hive at Five events taking place throughout the year include author talks, exhibitions, workshops at schools and a keynote speaker conference in March 2018.
Laura Worsfold, business development manager at The Hive and one of the three judges on the day, said: “The Great Hive Cake-off is a fun competition for anyone who enjoys baking. The cakes can be anything, as long as they take inspiration from The Hive.
“As Saturday July, 8 is all about bringing the community together to celebrate The Hive’s birthday, it’s a perfect opportunity to show off the creative talent of local amateur bakers.”
The event will run from 10am to 4pm, with the baking competition taking place from midday to 2pm and the judging beginning at 3pm.
