HEREFORD and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) has been recognised nationally for its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
The service’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award was presented at a ceremony held at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, where more than 100 guests gathered to celebrate 36 regional employers who have gone above and beyond in implementing forces-friendly policies.
The ERS Silver Award, presented on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, acknowledges organisations that actively support Reservists, Cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, veterans, service leavers, and military families within their workforce.
Hosted by the West Midland Reserve Forces & Cadets Association (WM RFCA), the ceremony also recognised employers across the West Midlands, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Warwickshire. From Worcestershire, both HWFRS and DRPG were among this year’s winners.
The awards were presented by Lieutenant Colonel Keith Spiers, Head of Engagement for the Army Headquarters Centre, with guests also joining a short Act of Remembrance at the Armed Forces Memorial.
Darren Knight, Defence Relationship Manager for WM RFCA, said: “On behalf of the Ministry of Defence we are honoured and delighted to be able to recognise the outstanding support and commitment to the Armed Forces, by businesses and organisations across the West Midlands, through the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.”
