A WORCESTER care home will be serving up some tasty inspiration for anyone looking to find out more about nutrition and healthy eating in later life.
Led by Care UK, the free event at Perry Manor care home on Charles Hastings Way, will provide practical advice on healthy eating and hydration for older people on Wednesday, March 2.
Held from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, hotel services manager at Care UK, James Clear, will give top tips for stimulating appetite and will discuss examples of how menus can be adapted to suit special dietary needs, for example, people living with dementia.
Visitors will have the chance to try a host of delicious sample dishes freshly prepared by the care home’s head chef, Peter James McGregor, including sandwiches and desserts prepared and served especially for those with swallowing difficulties, as well as homemade fortified drinks and delicious family favourites.
Peter said: “By supporting residents to eat and drink well, and helping them to overcome any obstacles that may prevent this, we can boost their health, even relieving aches and pains and increasing mental well being. We take into consideration every aspect of the dining experience to ensure it is enjoyable, sociable and fun for residents and importantly, that they maintain their independence and love of food.
