COMMUNITY groups in Worcester are being invited to make a bid for £1,000 of funding to help make a difference to local people and the communities where they live.

Sanctuary Housing’s Grand Ideas fund is now open for applications from charities and community groups who would benefit from some financial support to deliver activities and projects.

Community and residents groups, registered charities, parish/town councils and schools or social enterprises are all invited to bid for the cash.

Any projects must reach Sanctuary residents and successful applications will those which fit one or more of Sanctuary’s priorities which are; increasing skills and employability, building connections and reducing isolation, growing neighbourhood pride and community safety, sustainable lifestyles and greener living and helping residents better manage their money

The fund has previously supported Oasis Academy Warndon to launch a community farm where pupils and local families develop new skills by taking responsibility for looking after its three resident alpacas.

Michael Darby, Sanctuary’s area manager, said: “Sanctuary operates at the heart of local communities and we are committed to investing in projects that will make a difference to our neighbourhoodsand help our residents live happy and fulfilled lives.”

“We look forward to hearing from groups in Worcestershire who can help us to make a real difference.”
