A GROUP of friends are running a marathon from Redditch to Malvern in memory of Worcestershire CCC player Josh Baker.

A fundraiser organised by Josh Dickenson is aiming to raise £7,500 for The Baker Foundation. He has currently raised just under £6,500.

Josh and nine of his friends are running from Astwood Bank Cricket Club in Redditch to Barnards Green Cricket Club in Malvern on Saturday, December 21.

The marathon route starts at Astwood Bank Cricket Club – Baker’s first club – before heading to Worcestershire’s New Road ground.

From there, the runners will make the uphill trek to Malvern College before finishing at Barnards Green Cricket Club.

Baker tragically died aged 20 in May due to an undiagnosed heart defect and his club Worcestershire later retired the number 33 shirt he wore in his honour back in September.

Redditch-born Baker turned professional with the Pears in 2021. He attended Malvern College from 2016 to 2021.

He made 47 appearances for Worcestershire across all formats of the game after making his first class debut in July 2021.

He also represented England at under-19 level.
