Grants available for organisations that support vulnerable people in Worcester

ORGANISATIONS who help vulnerable households in Worcester are being reminded to apply for a share of grant funding to support their work.

Worcester City Council has allocated £40,000 from its Household Support Fund grant for voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations.

The money has previously been used by the organisation to benefit those in crisis and need in Worcester. This has included necessities such as food, energy, water bills and other vital household items like furniture and clothing.

But organisations need to hurry, because the deadline for applications is at midnight tomorrow (Friday).

Coun Jabba Riaz, Chair of Worcester City Council’s Communities Committee said: “The Household Support Fund provides assistance to vulnerable households by offering grants to charities, voluntary groups and community organisations to help with essential living costs.

“It is especially important during the Christmas period, when financial pressures tend to rise and many families face increased hardship, so I would urge organisations to get their applications in before Friday’s deadline.

“Ensuring people can meet these essential needs at critical times of the year can also help prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless.

“You can find more information at www.worcester.gov.uk/communitygrants.”

Charities, community interest companies (CICs) and charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) can apply for a grant of up to £5,000 each.

The funding must be used for a specific project to support vulnerable households in Worcester and not be used to support the running costs of the organisation applying. All grants awarded must be spent by March 31 2026.
