Golden moment for diamond Worcester couple

Worcester Editorial 12th Jul, 2020   0

A WORCESTER couple who had been unable to see each other for three months because of the Coronavirus pandemic were reunited at Latimer Court for their diamond wedding anniversary.

Margaret and Roy Welch celebrated the landmark with a safely-managed visit just in time to mark their 60th anniversary with an exchange of gifts, reminiscing with their daughter Andrea and sipping some bubbly.

The loved-up couple got married on July 9, 1960 at St George’s Church in Barbourne, on a beautiful sunny day. The couple have two children and four grandchildren.

Before the pandemic, Margaret and the family would visit Roy regularly. When visiting was stopped they could only communicate on FaceTime. They wanted to thank the staff at Latimer for their hard work and giving them the reassurance Roy is in the right place.

General manager Kerry Hill said: “We had such a lovely time celebrating Margaret and Roy’s diamond anniversary.”

“It’s so wonderful to see two people still very much in love after all these years. Being able to connect in person has not only lifted their spirits but has had a positive impact on everyone here.”
