A NEW monthly writing group has been launched with the aim to encourage people to be creative in all types of writing.
Meeting on the second Wednesday of every month, the Worcestershire Writers’ Group will allow people with a passion for writing to share their work, gain feedback and make new friends, all in a fun and vibrant atmosphere.
From short stories, novels and articles to poetry, plays and scriptwriting, all genres of writing are welcome, with monthly themes set to help members structure their writing.
There will also be a big emphasis on writing for the digital age including blogging, kindle, e-publishing and using social media channels to promote writing work.
The first meeting will take place tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30pm at The Lunar Bar on New Street in Worcester and although it is currently Worcester-based, founder, Elizabeth Hayden-Jones is happy to welcome members from further afield.
She said: “I had idea for a contemporary writers group many years ago, however I was busy with other commitments but I recently revisited this idea and decided to finally launch the group.
“Anyone who is a budding or established writer is welcome to come and join us, enjoy a drink and join in!”
As the group grows, Elizabeth plans to launch competitions, events and workshops, as well as work together with other events and festivals.
Membership costs £1 per meeting or £12 per year but prospective members can attend one meeting free of charge to try the group before joining.
