Free job club to aid those seeking work

JOB SEEKERS struggling with long-term unemployment can boost their chances of finding work by taking part in a free new course in Worcester.

Volunteers from Worcester Christians Against Poverty will launch their latest job club with a taster session tomorrow in St Helen’s Church on Fish Street.

It’s a chance for people to come and find out more about the free weekly group which aims to equip people with the skills and confidence they need to find work.

The eight-week course covers everything from how to write an eye-catching CV to preparation for a job interview.

Job club manager Neil Silverthorne, said: “Long-term unemployment will often destroy someone’s self-esteem but we know how to restore people’s confidence and give them the skills they need to find work.”

Worcester is among more than 160 towns and cities cross the country to host a CAP job club. The debt charity’s courses are up to seven times more successful than some government-commissioned work schemes at helping job seekers find employment.

Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the group can turn up to the taster session at 10.30am.
