Free car parking introduced in run up to Christmas

FREE and reduced parking rates are being introduced in the city in the lead up to Christmas.

Drivers will be able to park without paying after 6pm on Thursday December 4, 11 and 18 and pay for two hours on Sunday and get the rest of the day free from November 30.

The offer is for all city council run car parks in the city centre with the exception of The Corn Market during the Christmas Fayre.

City council bosses are reminding residents The Moors car park is now a private car park from Monday to Friday, both during the daytime and evenings.




It is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday, throughout the year.

The City Council owns the following car parks:


Copenhagen St

Cornmarket (offer does not apply during the Christmas Fayre, when access will be closed off)

Providence St

Cattle Market

King St

Newport St

St. Martins Gate

Clare St

Commandery Rd

Orchard House

Pitchcroft

The Moors

Tybridge St

Tallow Hill

Croft Road (offer does not apply for lorries and coaches)
