Free bus travel for Remembrance

Worcester Editorial 10th Nov, 2018   0

FREE bus travel will be on offer this Sunday to serving and ex-service personnel attending Remembrance events across the city.

Bus chiefs at First Worcester have confirmed personnel in military uniform or anyone with a current Ministry of Defence issued identity card with their branch of the military stated (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or cadet force) will be welcomed onto public transport.

First Worcester staff who have previously served in the forces are also being encouraged to support the event by wearing their military attire on Sunday whilst driving in service.

2018 marks the 100th anniversary of Armistice and the end of the First World War, as on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare.

Nigel Eggleton, managing director for First Worcester said,” This is an important day for many people who want to remember family, friends and others who have been lost in military service.

“I am pleased to be supporting ‘Remembrance Sunday’ on this 100th anniversary and want to make it as easy as possible for people to attend the events organised across the city.”
