A WORCESTER charity is celebrating after being awarded £4, 690 worth in funding from The Screwfix Foundation.

Volunteers at Mentor Link, a city charity which supports projects to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need, said they were grateful for the donation.

The Screwfix Foundation, which launched in April 2013 donates much needed funding to help a variety of local projects throughout the UK, from repairing buildings and improving facilities in deprived areas, to decorating the homes of people living with sickness or disability.

It also works closely with two national charity partners, Barnardo’s children’s charity and Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as supporting smaller, local registered charities like Mentor Link.

Andrea Maddocks from Mentor Link, said: “Mentor Link helps vulnerable and distressed children and young people, by providing them with the one to one support of a mentor or counsellor.

“The funding will be used to re-furbish a community well-being centre for children, young people and families to access our service directly in Stourport on Severn.

“We’d like to thank everyone who was involved in the fund-raising – it’s been a great help to us.”

Ben Davis, Store Manager of the Screwfix store in Kidderminster comments: “We’re really pleased that one of our local charities has been awarded funding by The Screwfix Foundation.

“Staff from across the business have held a variety of fund-raising events to raise vital funds for The Screwfix Foundation, so it’s fantastic to see the money we have raised being invested back into such a worthwhile community project.

The next round of funding will be awarded in early 2016.

Relevant projects from across Worcester are invited to apply online for a share of the funding at screwfixfoundation.com
