Former Worcester Uni student helps put sustainability on the timetable

LESSONS are looking greener at primary schools up and down the country thanks to a former Worcester University student.

Two decades after graduating, Edd Moore is helping schools across England deliver on the government’s ambition to embed sustainability into the national curriculum.

Edd, who graduated in 2005, has since led multiple schools to national and international recognition for their environmental work. He was also one of just 500 people to be named a Coronation Champion by the Queen Consort.

Now, Edd is publishing a book with Bloomsbury, titled ‘100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener Schools’.

He said: “I was speaking at a conference, and I was approached afterwards by a team who said they needed a book like this, and asked if I could write it. It’s aimed at teachers, trainees and senior school leaders, but it’ll also be useful for groups like Scouts and Guides.”

The book is designed to be a practical, time-saving resource for educators.

Edd continued: “As teachers, we can spend hours searching online to come up with a lesson which will be relevant and have an impact on our pupils. The idea is that this is a book which a teacher can just pick up and have a ready-to-go idea for a valuable lesson.”

Ideas in the book include nature journaling and writing to companies about single-use plastic.

100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener Schools is due to be available for purchase later this year.
