THE FORMER Mayor of Worcester Alan Amos has joined the Conservative leadership team at the Guildhall following changes made by the City Council’s new leader.

Coun Amos, who represents Warndon, will take on the role of responsibility for Economic Prosperity and Tourism- taking on part of Coun Marc Bayliss’ former position in the Cabinet prior to his election as leader last week.

The rest of the leadership team remains unchanged, with Coun Mike Johnson adding the Centre and Riverside Enhancement portfolio to his current role as Cabinet member for Sport, Leisure and Retail.

City Council leader, Coun Marc Bayliss, said: “Increasing prosperity in Worcester is one of the principle aims of our Corporate Plan and Alan’s commitment to supporting our city’s economy is second to none.

“I am confident he will work with great energy to bring more successful businesses and great jobs to Worcester.”

Coun Alan Amos said: “It is a great honour to be joining the Cabinet and to be working to boost this great city’s economy and to increase its success as a tourist destination.

“I am looking forward to working alongside Marc and my Cabinet colleagues to achieve the ambitious aims of our Corporate Plan.”
