A HOST of city dignitaries were invited along as a new Worcester opticians opened its doors.
Worcester Eyecare, a family-run business situated at 91 Sidbury, will provide a range of services from private and NHS-funded eye examinations, to contact lenses and designer eyewear.
During an opening ceremony Friday, July 1 the Mayor of Worcester Coun Paul Denham and Worcester’s MP Robin Walker cut the ribbon and had a tour.
With 16 years of experience, owner, Avtar Nandra and his wife Amrit, hope to provide a one-to-one service, different to other companies.
Mr Nandra said: “We aspire to be one of the leading eye care providers for the Worcestershire community offering a professional friendly service throughout the patient’s journey.
“I will use my extensive knowledge and experience to provide an honest approach to eyecare. I had been working for other companies and felt it was the right time to take the step forward into owning my own business.”
Speaking of the launch, he said: “At the opening we felt very nervous, anxious and excited, all at the same time. We were honoured to have such dignitaries present.
“It feels great to help revive the old building and to put it back on the map, it’s amazing to be apart of the regeneration of Worcester.”
Mrs Nandra said: “We hope to provide a traditional, friendly, customer focused, one to one service to help people with all eye issues.”
MP Robin Walker said: “I was delighted to take part in this very special opening. It is great to see a new family business opening up in Worcester city centre, congratulations to all involved.
“It is really good to see derelict shops brought back into use and new businesses, especially ones that will provide a valuable service to my constituents, starting up.”
