Fin praised for his sportsmanship

A WORCESTER footie ace has been praised for his sportsmanship after giving up the chance of a hat-trick for a teammate.

Fin Townsend’s extraordinary gesture came in Pershore Town under 13’s clash on Saturday (October 9).

With his side 6-0 up and having notched a brace, the young hot-shot was handed the chance to complete his hat-trick when his side where awarded a penalty.

But Fin, who attends Tudor Grange Academy in Worcester, picked up the ball and selflessly handed it to a new member of the team who won the penalty.

Proud dad Stuart hailed his son for his actions to promote sportsmanship in grassroots football.

“At the end of the game his teammates applauded him and his words were it was to get my team mate his first goal because he deserved one,” he said.

“I can’t explain how this has made me feel as his dad, I’m super proud of how he made certain his teammate was involved in more than just winning the kick.”
