CLASSICS from the silver screen are on show at a St Johns church thanks to a local councillor’s project which is going from strength to strength.
‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘Singing In The Rain’ are among the delights on offer at St Johns Working Men’s Club thanks to the ‘Come on In’ project.
Coun Alan Amos began the project when he was Mayor of Worcester in 2014 and said: “My Come On In Project was not meant to be a one-off, but rather a continuing commitment to tackle the problem of loneliness amongst older people,” he said.
“Already we have generated more than £50,000 of funding that Worcester would not have seen; and it is exciting to learn that over the last three months another three churches have been working with my team to access £10,000 each”.
“I am so pleased to learn that this particular project has been able to engage with 34 older people and I am looking forward to meeting some of them at their next film club,” he added.
