Festive call to bring in donations of toys

Worcester Editorial 13th Dec, 2022   0

A RALLYING call for caring Worcester residents to donate toys, craft supplies, baby wipes and toiletries has been made by staff at a city care and nursing home.

Latimer Court is supporting Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester in a joint campaign which sees its Edgbaston Beaumont site collecting for Acorns Children’s Hospice in Birmingham.

Anyone who is in a position to donate items is asked not to give soft or plush toys or any chocolate or second hand toys, due to safety and hygiene reasons

Toys and games which are able to be wiped clean, including any sensory toys are among the items sought by staff.

Additionally, the hospice always have use of craft supplies as well as baby wipes and baby safe toiletries.

“We are asking residents, families, friends, staff and our local community to help us with this campaign which will run until the end of the day on Monday, December 19,” said Donna Tustin, general manager at Latimer Court.

“Please bring your donations to our reception and we will ensure all the gifts are delivered to the hospice in time for Christmas. Thank you.”

Joanne Thomas from Acorns Children’s Hospice said: “This is fantastic thank you, I know the children will be thrilled with your donations.

“We are happy to help and support in any way we can. Best of luck with the toy and gift appeals and I look forward to meeting with some people from your homes soon.”

Donations can be taken to Latimer Court on Darwin Avenue in Worcester, WR5 1SP and there is a car park on site for visitors.
