Feathered friends have new home at hospice

Worcester Editorial 13th Jan, 2019   0

FEATHERED friends in the gardens of St Richard’s Hospice have been given a boost with the donation of 14 new homes from a Pershore charity.

Nesting boxes have been given to the Wildwood Drive hospice by Welcome to our Future, a charity which aims to promote sustainable development across the county.

The donation was extra special for the charity’s grants manager Bill Richardson from St Peter’s who has undertaken a number of fund-raising challenges for the hospice in memory of his late wife Brenda who was cared for before she died in 2012.

“Welcome to our Future secured funding from the Lillie C.Johnson Charitable Trust to pay for the bird nesting boxes which will be placed around the garden and grounds of the hospice,” Bill said.

Hospice chief executive June Patel said: “We know from experience the therapeutic benefit animals can bring to patients in the hospice and they love to watch the birds and wildlife in the garden.”
