Feathered friends are on the agenda

CARE home residents will spread their wings to celebrate the best of British birds this month.

Perry Manor residents are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January along with a local Scout group.

Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the species in their garden.

Alongside Care UK homes across the country, the home on Charles Hastings Way will be celebrating the best of British birds by painting bird boxes with the 20th Worcester Cubs, birdwatching at Malvern Hills and topping it off with a visit from the local birds of prey centre.

Katherine Matthews, home manager at Perry Manor, explained why discovering our wildlife is an important activity: “Everyone is really looking forward to celebrating British birds this January and learning more about our feathered friends.

“We’ve been researching British birds common to Worcester and are very excited to be taking part in a variety of activities throughout January including painting bird boxes, birdwatching and to top it off a visit from our local birds of prey group.

“Residents here at Perry Manor have a keen interest in nature, so we thought that researching local wildlife, as well as seeing birds of prey, would be the perfect way to discover what’s on our doorstep.

“We’d like to thank 20th Worcester Cubs for coming along and RSPB for inspiring us to get involved.”
