A HOST of family fun celebratory events will take place across Worcester to mark HM The Queen’s official 90th birthday.
Her Majesty reaches the milestone this Saturday (June 11) and to mark the occasion there will be a 90 boat flotilla along the River Severn, where the Mayor of Worcester, coun Paul Denham and Olympic Gold medallist Zac Purchase will be in attendance.
There will also be activities for youngsters at The Hive, ‘The Big Sing’ concert at the University of Worcester Arena, a ‘Go Dad Run’ event at Worcester Racecourse and an invitation only tea party at the Guildhall for 90-year-olds.
In addition to the events, there will also be a chance for residents to record their own memories of The Queen via video, in Worcestershire County Council’s ‘90 years in 90 seconds’ vox pop project.
Every video submitted will be archived by Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service – supported by Media Archive Central England – and will be available for future generations to listen to.
The Lord Lt Col Patrick Holcroft, who will also be in attendance, said: “This weekend shows Worcestershire coming together to celebrate Her Majesty’s official 90th birthday. There’s something for all ages and it promises to be a most enjoyable celebration.”
