A ‘BUSKATHON’, a ‘Big Brekkie’ and a coffee morning will be taking place in Worcester next week to raise cash for Christian Aid.
It all forms part of Christian Aid Week which starts on Sunday (May 15) and runs until Saturday, May 21- with the week of fundraising hoping to raise vital funds to support poorer communities around the world who are often forced to live without the basic needs of food and shelter.
Ombersley Road Methodist Church is hosting a coffee morning and sale between 10am and 12pm on Saturday (May 14).
Then on Tuesday (May 17) a Big Brekkie will be served up at Bromyard Road Methodist Church from 8.30am until 11.30am.
For the first time during Christian Aid Week, Worcester’s Guildhall will play host to the ‘Big Buskathon’ from 10am on Saturday, May 21.
And to round off the day, from 7.30pm at St George’s Church in Barbourne local acoustic Folkaholics will play an evening of folk and blues music with city singer/songwriters Richard Clarke and Paul Jeffery.
Chair of Worcester Christian Aid group, Alison Clarke, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming people from across the community to these events.
“Christian Aid Week unites over 20,000 churches every year to achieve incredible things to support our global neighbours in need, who are often suffering through no fault of their own, and this is a great opportunity for the people of Worcester to do their bit.
“Last year people in Worcester raised over £20,000 to tackle poverty in some of the world’s poorest places.”
