KIND-HEARTED staff and students at Christopher Whitehead Language College and Sixth Form donated much-needed items of aid for Ukranian refugees.
Donations were handed over at Sixways Stadium to support the growing number of refugees from the war-torn country.
A school spokesperson said: “It was quite emotional seeing everything packed like this: things we take so much for granted but that will be desperately needed by families just like ours right now in Poland and Ukraine.
“The nappies made us feel especially sad but also the pet food, which seemed so thoughtful, and the toy rabbit someone had packed into a box of baby wipes.
“The generosity of our CWLC families was overwhelming but also heartening. The folk at Sixways Stadium sorting and packing everything into boxes were extremely grateful.”
The response to the Warriors initial request for donations was so overwhelming the club had to pause them for four days to allow a team of volunteers to sort and package the mountain of items ahead so that they were ready for transportation and distribution.
Two lorryloads of humanitarian aid have already left Sixways and Warriors are again accepting donations of essential items which can be left in the Portcullis Bar under the East Stand at Sixways.
To aid the collection process and to avoid any wastage only items on the list of essentials should be donated. Please note that organisers cannot accept items of clothing unless they are specifically listed.
