Dancing to raise World Cup cash

Worcester Editorial 5th Jun, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

YOUNG Worcester dancers are taking to the stage to raise money to represent England in the Dance World Cup.

Members of the Harlequin Stage School will be performing their Dance World Cup Premier Show on Saturday (June 6) at the Tudor Grange Academy at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

The group are aiming to raise £50,000 to cover the cost of representing England at the competition in Bucharest, Romania from June 20 until July 4.

The group of 81 students will compete against 45 other countries after being auditioned by experts who select the England team and who made the final short list of three representatives in each age group and category.

Paula Dymock, Harlequin school principal, said: “The judges were so impressed with our group work they selected ten of our soloists, seven duets, fourteen trios and no fewer than sixteen groups. The honour of making the selection team and to know that you are training students on a world level is fabulous.”

Tickets for the afternoon show cost £10 and evening seats are £12.50. They can be bought from Phil Weston on 01905 451372 or by visiting Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club.
