Cycle to work is win win for GP

A WORCESTER GP has saddled up to cycle to work in a ‘win-win’ solution for his daily routine.

Dr Steve Cockeram, who is a Green Party candidate in May’s local elections, began cycling to Spring Gardens Medical Practice last month in order to be more active during the working day.

After he purchased a second-hand G-Tech bike and a good lock, Dr Cockeram began putting pedal to the metal during the winter, a decision he admits was somewhat surprising.

“Starting during the winter may seem like an odd decision, but I thought that, if I can keep it up through winter, it will be a breeze in spring,” he added.

“I tell patients to get more exercise, but sometimes we need to take our own medicine.”

“I am particularly amazed at how careful the majority of drivers are. If look at YouTube and social media, it’s easy to get the idea that there is a war on between cyclists and drivers. I have not experienced this at all.”

“I feel more energetic and start each work day with a clear head,” Dr Cockeram added.
