Crossing work to begin across county

Worcester Editorial 21st Jul, 2020   0

WORK is set to start next month on a new pedestrian crossing on a busy Worcester road, county highways chiefs have revealed.

A new zebra crossing will be installed on Brickfields Road, one of five hotspots across the county to be given a new crossing in the coming weeks to improve pedestrian safety.

Coun Alan Amos, cabinet member for Highways, said: “It’s great we’re now in a position to get these crossings installed across the county over the next few months.

“We have been made aware by the local communities in each of these areas of the need for new road crossings, to improve safety and access to local services and it’s important that we act on this local knowledge.”

The positioning of the crossing on Brickfields Road will be just to the west of the junction with Poplar Avenue and Ash Avenue and will include some preparatory street lighting work in the area from August 3.

Another crossing will be installed on Tolladine Road later this summer.
