Worcester Editorial 2nd Dec, 2023   0

A TREASURE trove of historical gems which have shaped the county’s unique identity will be unveiled for this year’s Worcestershire Explore Your Archive campaign.

The drive, which began on Saturday and runs until Sunday, December 3, has been organised by Worcestershire County Council’s Archives and Archaeology Service, in conjuction with the Archives and Records Association.

Residents can visit the Explore Your Archive website or Twitter (@ExploreThePast) and use the #ExploreYourArchive hashtag for more information and to stay updated on the latest discoveries and events.

During launch week, selected collections chosen by archive staff will be showcased in exhibition cases on Level 2 at The Hive, Worcester, providing a glimpse into Worcestershire’s vibrant past.

These carefully curated displays will highlight significant events, influential figures, and iconic landmarks that have shaped the county’s character.

Coun Marcus Hart, the county council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, said the event provided a fantastic opportunity for the community to delve into the county’s past and uncover stories which had shaped our present.

“Whether you’re a seasoned history buff or simply curious about Worcestershire’s past, Explore Your Archive Week offers something for everyone.”
