A LEADING estate agency has backed a major art trail set to take Worcester by storm in the summer of 2018.
Andrew Grant Estate Agent has sponsored a giraffe sculpture for the Worcester Stands Tall art trail – joining the growing ranks of organisations supporting the project.
For 10 weeks next summer, at least 25, 2.5-metre tall giraffe sculptures will stand proud through the streets of Worcester – before being auctioned to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.
Andrew Grant, principal of the estate agency, is a patron of St Richard’s Hospice and has been involved with the charity since the early days of its history.
Katie Chesterman, lettings manager at Andrew Grant, said: “Worcester Stands Tall is a fantastic project and we are privileged to be involved with such a great cause.
“We’re excited that the event is happening right here in our wonderful city and we are very much looking forward to sharing the enjoyment of it with the local community.”
Artists from across the country are busy dreaming up creative designs to cover the large giraffe sculptures, while more and more sponsors are getting on board.
Alongside the large giraffes will stand an array of smaller, calf sculptures – which will be decorated by school children across Worcestershire.
The calves will parade through Crowngate Shopping Centre for the duration of the trail, which runs from July to September next year.
Tricia Cavell, St Richard’s fund-raising director, said: “Andrew has been a fantastic supporter of the hospice for many years, so we are delighted that his business will be represented with its own giraffe on our trail.”
Among the 22 sponsors already funding sculptures are Worcester, Bosch Group, the Royal Porcelain Works, Hewett Recruitment, the New Four Seasons, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Southco Manufacturing Limited, the Royal Grammar School, Open GI, the Valley Evesham and Worcester City Council.
